A Virtual and Physical Exhibit
The climate crisis and its potentially dire consequences can seem overwhelming. Most people think they either have no control over what’s to come or that it’s too late to do anything.
The current pandemic has shown that by joining together with others, each of us is able to contribute to a safer and more equitable world.
Project Drawdown, which calls itself “the world’s leading resource for climate solutions,” has listed 100 ways to help solve the climate crisis and we’re calling on artists to show us the way!
Instead of art and images depicting doom and gloom, we are asking for art that helps us to see solutions we can implement ourselves for a better Blackstone Valley and beyond!
Physical exhibition dates September 10 – November 6 2020. Virtual exhibits remain online indefinitely on our ValleyCAST website, Facebook and Instagram pages, and our ValleyCAST YouTube Channel.
Email submission deadline is August 25, 2020. Artists selected for our physical gallery exhibit will be contacted to schedule an artwork drop-off before August 31, 2020. Prizes will be awarded.
All work must meet the following submission guidelines and images sent via email or drop box to Cristi.Collari @ Openskycs .org:
- All artwork must be created within the last five years.
- Two-dimensional artworks are limited to 36” in any direction, including frame.
- All artwork registrations must include three high-quality images with permission for us to use on our social media pages and print materials.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Each artist may register one work of art
- All work must be original
- No artwork may exceed 50 lbs. or 90” in height or 36″ at the widest point.
- Works selected for the physical exhibit must be exhibition ready with framing and wire as appropriate. Alternative hanging methods (suspended from the ceiling, installed with magnets, etc.) must be tested prior to submission to ensure successful installation and required hardware must be provided.
Image and video files must adhere to the following specifications to be included:
- Image files must be .jpg, .jpeg, or .png format
- Video files must be .mp4 format
- Images files should not exceed 5MB
- Images should be at least 600 pixels and not more than 1,200 pixels in either direction
- Image resolution should be 150 dpi
- Video files should be web ready and sent via Hightail or another file sharing site
- Please label files: FirstName, LastName and include artwork information in your email: Title, Medium, Dimensions, Weight, Date, and Price (or NFS =Not For Sale)
